The key to WA’s success can be found in the vision of the firm’s leadership and dedication of its employees. Adept at long range planning, WA’s principals analyze market trends, identify opportunities and create a corporate vision for the firm. Each member of the leadership team has an active role in running the firm and also provides executive oversight on its projects. WA prides itself on stability and is one of few firms in which management collectively has an average tenure of more than 29 years.

Julio E. Alvarez, PE
President, Co-Founder
Mr. Alvarez began his professional career as a project manager and engineer with Florida Power & Light Company where he served as planning liaison in the development of power distribution systems. Subsequently, this served as a basis for his experience as a founding principal of WA. Julio has used his expertise as project principal or engineering coordinator for the design of a wide variety of governmental, industrial, commercial, educational, aerospace and transportation facilities throughout the United States and international locations.

A member of the Florida Engineering Society, Julio previously served as president of the Miami Chapter, as well as chaired committees in professional development and issues relating to the reconstruction of Cuba. In recognition of his activities, he was awarded FES "Young Engineer of the Year" and "Engineer of the Year" and received "Engineer of the Year" honors from the Association of Cuban Engineers in 1996.

Marcel R. Morlote, AIA
Senior Vice President
Mr. Morlote joined WA in 1979 and brings exceptional depth to his work. His skills as an architect, planner and manager are accompanied by a strong background in engineering, giving him added expertise in the technical requirements for buildings and infrastructure. Marcel directs the day-to-day technical operation for the firm and is experienced in architectural design, design/build, architectural coordination, project management and construction phase services. He experience includes a variety of projects including mixed-use projects for both public and private sector clients in South Florida and the Caribbean, including Mary Brickell Village, Shops at Sunset Place and NASA's Operations and Support Building II at Kennedy Space Center. Mr. Morlote received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami.

Aris Garcia, AIA
Vice President
Mr. Garcia serves as the firm’s lead designer and manages all phases of planning, project development and design from preliminary concepts and programming to final production. He has led the design of WA’s educational projects catapulting WA into the forefront as one of Florida’s premiere K-12 design firms. His experience comprises all aspects of building and interior design including corporate, educational, hospitality, livable, mixed-use, retail, financial institutions and healthcare facilities. Aris has delivered innovative and thoughtful design solutions to clients for more than 25 years. Throughout his tenure at WA, Aris has been responsible for a number of prestigious projects, including the 200,000 SF NASA Operations and Support Building II at Kennedy Space Center, Mary Brickell Village, Flamingo Park Master Plan and Tennis Center and the Miami Dade Metrorail Station expansion. Aris received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Miami with graduate studies in urban planning.

Raul Estevez
Vice President
With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Estevez serves as a senior project manager and/or engineering coordinator for the programming, planning, design and construction of some of the firm’s largest projects. Mr. Estevez has managed various large-scale and complex projects such as the North Terminal Development at the Miami International Airport as well as other American Airlines projects and the $100 million VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL. Through his work with aviation, transportation, healthcare, corporate and development clients, Raul has acquired a broad understanding of project management and has overseen some of the firm’s most complex projects, most of which have involved multiple decision-makers and multiple design firms.
